Flavonoid — 7th Prototype
Flavonoid v07. This one is a little bit larger. It had to accommodate a few goodies to make it more robust. First, a circuit to prevent the battery from going into a deep discharge. A little business so that reversing the battery won’t blow everything up. And I added a coin cell holder to keep the RTC from losing time when the power drops or the main battery is disconnected. I also scaled it up a bit so that a display I found at SparkFun would have the mounting holes line up. Yes, I am now considering a display (more than an LED) which goes a little against the grain of the initial design concept of an object that was a bit counter to the sensibilities inherent in mobile devices. (I’ve also found some color OLED displays that are quite small — 96 pixels square — that could be interesting to try. It’s an evolving, continuously prototyped-prototype. Which is part of the design project. Feels a bit like writing a dissertation — almost never feels done.
